This usually involves <g id=\"gid_0\">a consular interview<\/g>. This takes place at an <strong>approved visa application center<\/strong> or directly at a <a href=\"https:\/\/uk-gb.net\/en\/british-embassy-in-the-usa\/\">British embassy<\/a>, depending on the country of residence.   You can consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/find-a-visa-application-centre\">list of visa application centers by country<\/a> to make an appointment at the center nearest you.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>For short-term stays<\/strong>: There&#8217;s no need to obtain a visa, just complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/uk-gb.net\/en\/online-form-eta-visa-england\/\">ETA form online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is maintenance necessary?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The consular interview is a crucial stage in the visa application process. If the consular officer deems it necessary to go into certain points in greater depth, the interview can last <strong>up to an hour or more<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And after the appointment?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Once the interview is over, the center will hold your passport while the application is processed. You will receive <strong>notification by e-mail or SMS<\/strong> as soon as the decision has been made.
