Which countries’ nationals can obtain an ETA United Kingdom
Here is the list of countries whose nationals are eligible for ETA to travel to the UK, along with key dates when the scheme was introduced:

European nationals must therefore travel with a British ETA from April 2, 2025. They must apply for a British ETA online.
ETA exemptions
The following people do not need to apply for an ETA:
- British or Irish citizens
- Holder of a valid British visa
- Permanent or temporary residents in the UK (“settled” or “pre-settled” status)
- Legal residents of Ireland traveling from Ireland or the Channel Islands
- Children under 18 taking part in an organized school trip (under certain conditions)
