What is the UK embassy?
The UK’s embassies, present in the majority of countries, provide official representation of British interests abroad. Their main mission is to protect British nationals abroad, while promoting the UK’s diplomatic, economic and cultural priorities. They also provide consular support to citizens traveling or living abroad.
In terms of mobility, these representations play a central role in processing visa applications for people wishing to travel to the UK. However, since 2024, nationals of certain countries eligible for the Visa Waiver Program no longer need to apply for a tourist visa for short-term stays.
It is possible to obtain an eTA for the UK online for a tourist stay of less than 6 months.

How do I make an appointment at a British embassy?
When applying for a visa to the UK, applicants are usually required to attend a consular interview. To book this appointment, you need to go to the official UK government website (gov.uk) and select an interview date at the relevant embassy or visa application center.
Once the appointment has been confirmed, an official invitation can be downloaded. This document must be printed out and presented with all the supporting documents required for the interview.
